WHAT ELSE CAN I DIGISCRAP?

So I am totally addicted to digi-scrapping...for now, that is. (I tend to rotate hobbies rather quickly.) This latest addiction seems to be very useful, though. I decided to create a background for Ethan's blog. I found some more great freebies from Ikea Goddess.
I am impressed by the friendliness of the digi-scrapping community. It seems like everyone is more than willing to share their ideas and products. This definitely makes the hobby more enjoyable. For this layout, I followed the same steps as with my previous gift project. I started with the papers, and then layered from there. The best part about doing everything digitally is that you can play around with mixing and matching ingredients until you find the perfect look. And you can re-use items over and over again. Sooooo much better than regular scrapbooking.

A SCRAP OFFERING

Today we are going to visit some friends who we recently went on a trip with, so naturally I decided to utilize my new digi-scrapping techniques to create this small gift. I simply started in Photoshop with an 8 x 8 page and went to work layering papers, grunge overlays, and embellishments, and type.
My first step is always choosing my papers and laying down the basic background. I like to use 2-3 different papers and arrange them at different angles. I don't like lining things up when creating a layout.

Here I added a grunge overlay to my second paper. You can see how adding even the slighest detail can completely change the look of your page.

Then I like to lay down different stamps to create more texture to the background. Using photoshop and changing the opacity of a layer makes it very easy to add just a hint of something to a page.

Next, I place my photos. This piece only had 1, so I decided I wanted it right in the middle for emphasis.

Here is the fun part- laying down all of the embellishments. I try to pick things that match in color, but use different patterns. Again, I'm a fan of texture. The last step is adding text to the page. I usually pick one main word as the title, and then embellish with other related phrases. If this were my own page, versus being a gift, I would add some simple journaling to mark the event.
